Ācaya-Gāmī Suttaṃ

Given to Heaping Up and Diminishing

[168]

THUS have I heard:

Once the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, I will teach you dhamma that goes to heaping up (rebirth)¹ and dhamma that goes to diminishing (rebirth).

Do ye listen to it.

Pay attention carefully and I will speak."

"We will, sir," replied those monks to the Exalted One,
who said this:

"And what, monks, is dhamma that goes to heaping up (rebirth)?

Wrong view,
wrong thinking,
wrong speech,
wrong action,
wrong living,
wrong effort,
wrong mindfulness,
wrong concentration,
wrong knowledge,
wrong release.

This is called 'dhamma that goes to heaping up .'(rebirth)

And what, monks, is Dhamma that goes to diminishing (rebirth)?

Right view,
right thinking,
right speech,
right action,
right living,
right effort,
right mindfulness,
right concentration,
right knowledge,
right release.

This is called 'Dhamma that goes to diminishing '(rebirth)."
