Sutta 135

Ariya-Dhamma Suttaṃ

Ariyan and Unariyan

[167]

THUS have I heard:

Once the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, I will teach you the Ariyan and the unariyan dhamma.

Do ye listen to it.

Pay attention carefully and I will speak."

"We will, sir," replied those monks to the Exalted One,
who said this:

"And what, monks, is the unariyan dhamma?

Wrong view,
wrong thinking,
wrong speech,
wrong action,
wrong living,
wrong effort,
wrong mindfulness,
wrong concentration,
wrong knowledge,
wrong release.

This is called 'the unariyan dhamma.'
