Anusaya Suttaṃ

The Leanings

[6]

THUS have I heard:

Once the Exalted One was dwelling near Sāvatthī,
at Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's Park;
and there he addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

'Yes, lord,' they replied;
and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, there are these seven leanings.1

What seven?

The leanings of lust,
resisting,
view,
uncertainty,
conceit,
worldly lusts
and ignorance.

Verily, monks, these are the seven.'
