Thus have I heard:
Once the Exalted One dwelt near Sāvatthī; and there he addressed the monks, saying: 'Monks.'
'Yes, lord,' they replied; and the Exalted One said:
"Monks, there are these five disadvantages from fire.
What five?
[188] It is bad for the eyes;1
causes ugliness;2
causes weakness;
(folk-)gatherings grow;
and tales of animals are told because of it.
Verily, monks, these are the five disadvantages from fire.'
