Thus have I heard:

Once the Exalted One dwelt near Sāvatthī;
and there he addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

'Yes, lord,' they replied;
and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, there are these five achievements.

What five?

The perfecting of virtue,
the perfecting of concentration,
the perfecting of insight,
the perfecting of emancipation,
the perfecting of the knowledge and vision of emancipation.

Verily, monks, these are the five achievements.'
