Thus have I heard:

On a certain occasion the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied,
and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, these four modes of speech are un-Ariyan.

What four?

Speaking of things seen as not seen,
of things heard as not heard,
of things sensed as not sensed,
speaking of things cognized as not cognized.'

"Monks, these four modes of speech are un-Ariyan.
