Blameworthy
[271]
THUS HAVE I HEARD
Once the Exalted One was dwelling near Sāvatthī.
Then the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:
"Monks!"
"Yes, lord," replied those monks to the Exalted One.
The Exalted One said:
"Monks, possessed of three qualities
one is put into Purgatory
according to his deserts.
What three?
Blameworthy action of body,
blameworthy action of speech,
blameworthy action of mind.
Monks, possessed of these three qualities
one is put into Purgatory
according to his deserts.
§
Monks, possessed of three qualities
one is put into Heaven
according to his deserts.
What three?
Blameless action of body,
blameless action of speech,
blameless action of mind.
Monks, possessed of these three qualities
one is put into Heaven
according to his deserts."
